My four-year-old daughter loves ballet, stuffed animals, and big machinery. With their flashing lights, siren, and gadgets, fire engines top the list of machines she loves. She and I are both thrilled to partner with Two Lions (Amazon) to celebrate the publication of Flash, the Little Fire Engine by Pam Calvert. Keep reading to learn more about the book and get a free printable fire engine craft!
Flash, the Little Fire Engine is about a small firetruck who wants to do his part and help put out fires. Every time there’s a call, he races to the fire, ready to battle the flames and save people. But every time, another fire engine is always there first. The other fire engines are bigger, faster, and have special equipment. Flash starts to think that he isn’t needed when he gets a call for a fire that only he can put out.
Kids that like fire engines or that dream of growing up to become a firefighter will enjoy this cute story. The brightly colored illustrations are energetic and fun. The story itself is a fun spin on the “even children can make a difference” theme. Plus, readers get to know a little more about the different types of fire trucks.
My daughter loves this book. She likes making the siren sounds and pointing out the animals and people that get rescued from fires in the story. If you have a kid that loves fire engines or big machinery, this is a great book to add to your collection!

About the Book
Flash, the Little Fire Engine by Pam Calvert, illustrated by Jen Taylor
It’s Flash’s first day on the job as a little fire engine—and it’s going to be a busy one! But Flash is ready to jump into action and save the day. The only problem is that every time Flash tries to pitch in, he is either too little or too late to help out. What if no one needs him? When a fire erupts in the middle of town, it looks like Flash might be the only one available to help. Does he have what it takes to save the day?
