Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year. When I was a kid, I dressed up as a witch for four years in a row. I painted my face green and put on fake warts and everything. I’m thrilled to team up with Two Lions Press to bring you this blog post and introduce you to the adorable picture book The Itty-Bitty Witch by Trisha Speed Shaskan. Keep reading to learn more about the book and print some Halloween coloring pages for toddlers and preschoolers!
The Itty-Bitty Witch is about a small witch named Betty. She’s starting first grade at witch school and she’s excited to learn. But some of the other kids start to tease her, calling her Bitty because of her size. It doesn’t matter how hard Betty works on her flying abilities, what she says, or what she does, the other children make fun of her. When Betty learns to use her small size to her advantage, she proves that nothing will stop her from reaching her dreams.
This little book is adorable. It has a positive message about not letting others get you down and always doing your best. It’s perfect to read at Halloween or anytime you want to read a story about a child overcoming the odds. This is not a scary or spooky book, so it’s just right for kids in the 4-7 age range. If your child loves not-so-scary Halloween books or is a fan of the Netflix show Super Monsters, they’ll enjoy this picture book.

About the Book
The Itty-Bitty Witch by Trisha Speed Shaskan, illustrated by Xindi Yan
Betty can’t wait to be a first-grade witch. But on the first day of school, her classmates start calling her “Itty Bitty” because she’s small and still uses her kinder-broom. Betty doesn’t like the nickname—or how it makes her feel itty-bitty inside. So she comes up with a BIG idea to prove herself: winning the Halloween Dash.
